Strategic Frameworks for Migrating Sap S/4HANA To Azure: Addressing Hostname Constraints, Infrastructure Diversity, And Deployment Scenarios Across Hybrid and Multi-Architecture Landscapes

The SAP S/4HANA move to the public cloud environment has become a burning topic on the lists of enterprises trying to achieve agility, cost-effectiveness, and international presence. Nonetheless, migration of premises deployments to Microsoft Azure generates distinct architectural and operational problems. The most urgent ones are hostname restrictions, harmonization of various infrastructures, and the need to accommodate hybrid and multi-architecture deployment environments. This study will prepare a strategic framework that will combine hostname remediation, map the infrastructure diversity, and deploy scenario decision matrices to facilitate enterprise migrations. Using the information on vendors, the updates of the platform in October 2023, and the synthesized knowledge on the case studies, the framework offers prescriptive advice on the discovery, design, cutover, and optimization stages. Within the results, it was found that hostname aliasing and DNS strategies minimize the risks associated with migration, structured infrastructure mapping facilitates the compliance of certificates, and decision matrices can fast-track the selection of hybrid and full-cloud models. The research makes its contribution to academic literature by filling migration knowledge gaps of hostname dependencies and heterogeneous infrastructure integration. In practice, it provides businesses with a proven blueprint, which is consistent with the Azure Center of SAP solutions, 2023-10 API functionality, and security advice offered by the SAP October 2023 Patch Day. This framework is helping organizations to implement predictable and resilient migrations, which prepares them to be successful in the long-term in hybrid and multi-architecture environments.
